Spare nothing to take care of it. -- Shu UemuraCelebrated makeup artist and beauty pioneer Shu Uemura died on December 29, 2007. A memorial service will be held in Tokyo on January 31. Uemura, who favored an artistic approach to makeup was 79 years old. He was recently credited by W magazine as being one of the first to experiment with cleansing oils, having developed the used-by-all classic High Performance Cleansing Oil in 1960, and was known for his philosophy that healthy skin was the best foundation for beautiful makeup.
