Prisoner of Love - Win this Freedom Necklace!

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and, as is the grand tradition of the holiday, I've got some pals who'll complain of having no inamorato to shower them with flowers and chocolates, and friends who'll complain that their man hasn't a romantic bone in his body. This year, to honor all the gorgeous, funny, original, and extraordinary women out there, single or attached, I'm giving away this sinfully stylish Freedom Necklace from Nomination (worth $165) for Valentine's Day!

Whether you've got a special someone to pamper and spoil you, or you're flying solo on Valentine's Day you can look sweeter than a box of Godiva truffles in this chic, stainless steel and 18K gold necklace and all its good-girl-turned-bad splendor. Just leave a comment telling me the funniest, sweetest, most romantic, or most horrific Valentine's Day gift you've ever gotten and you could win! (Winner selected at random)

xoxo,

On Valentine's day two years ago, Dear Boyfriend interrupted my Personality class to give me a huge bouquet of pink roses. Everyone watched us (including the prof)! It was unexpected and I wasn't used to the attention so I didn't let him kiss me on the lips. He did on my forehead so the next day, some classmates teased me 'old lady' for being so conservative.

I don't know whether it's my funniest or most romantic V-day gift ever! :)

ok, miss angel. this one was the biggest "do you know me AT ALL?" v-day moment: my boyfriend of two years came over to my apt with one of those teddy-bears-attached-to-chocolates that you get at a drugstore on your way home. the bear was wearing a rollneck sweater.

i said, "a joke?"

he said, "your present!"

i was sorely disappointed and never let him forget that picking up a drugstore bear on the way home was NOT a good v-day idea. he's gotten better. :)

angelica said...

Omigosh, Melissa. I know exactly the bear you're talking about - I think I may have gotten his brother a couple of years ago, only his sweater was a scoopneck and had a heart on it. So glad your boy has wised up! ;)

One Valentine's day i opened my locker and there was a bunch of deflated balloons in it. my boyfriend had snuck into my locker and put them there the night before but they didn't make it through the night. i thought it was sweet that he tried.

thank you,
Missy

Wow!Miss Angel, are you really giving away that nice necklace? :) Till date I really never had any weird incident happened to me on Valentine's Day.:(

angelica said...

Emmie, my darling, have you had anything particular romantic happen (doesn't necessarily have to be weird)? I'd love to hear about it...

Okay, this is pretty horrific. My birthday is Feb 16th. so one year I was dating a guy who told me that since my b-day was so close to V-day, I could pick which one I wanted to celebrate, because he didn't want to have to go out and find two separate gifts. Needless to say we are no longer dating.

Love the necklace. Thanks for the giveaway!

The cutest Valentine's Day gift I ever got was a slice of Cheese. I was single that year and my friend decided to celebrate Singles' Day instead of Valentine's Day, so she bought me and all my single friends a slice of Kraft Singles cheese. It was very tasty on my sandwich that day and so thoughtful!

Meredith said...

As of yet, I haven't had anyone to celebrate Valentine's Day with. But a few years ago, I helped my brother set up a nice dinner for his now wife. It was their first official date. We had someone prepare a gourmet meal, I bought roses to give in a vase (some of the petals also ended up on the table,)the candles were lit, I bought a metal rose from the Renaissance Festival that day when I went with friends for him to give to her, and we made sure that all family members were out of the house for dinner so that they could have a nice quiet date. I thought it was sweet. Oh yeah, I also spent most of the morning mopping the floor and cleaning the kitchen so that it would be nice and clean!

angelica said...

No Nonsense - SOOO glad you kicked him to the curb (I know that's an awful, "Ricky Lake Show" cliche to use but it's the truth honey!)

Amber - Okay that is entirely too cute!

And Meredith - you are probably the most thoughtful sister on the planet!

One year I was in love with this Hallmark Valentine bear and really wanted it. I mentioned it to my then boyfriend as many times as I could, and he was always rolling his eyes and telling me I was getting a better present than that, etc.

I don't remember what gift he gave me, but after I had opened it I walked into his front room (which had a curtain across the door) ... and there was the bear!

Last year, my boyfriend (at the time) came over and we went to Jimmy John's, drank champagne, and watched a movie. haha. Maybe that's why he's not my bf no more.

My then-husband's idea of a Valentine's gift was giving me a chocolate heart... the drugstore variety... obviously an afterthought. :(

angelica said...

Okay, Samantha. That is just adorable. (Don't you just love a man who actually listens??!!)

Kaman - well..at least you had champers! ;)

When I was a junior in high school, my boyfriend of one year took me on a scavenger hunt around town to all of our favorite places. It was adorable! Especially because boys in high school don't tend to be too romantic. The end of the hunt ended up back at his house, where he gave me a gorgeous necklace and asked me to prom. Very cute!

Even though we live four hours apart my honey always makes sure to have flowers sent to my office. Then we make plans to see each other the weekend after.

The Valentine's Day of my Freshman year, a friend of mine gave me some chocolates. I bit into one and it had peanuts, which I'm allergic to. So I ended up spending that V-Day at home, sick.

Last Valentine's Day, I almost broke into tears when my bf came up to me in school empty handed. I love little things like teddy bears and candy so I was hurt when i noticed he hadn't bought me anything. After giving him the silent treatment for about half the school day, I'd gotten a pass from my band director to come to the band room. As i opened the door, I was shocked to find the entire band playing All My Life, by KC and Jojo(which is our song) and my bf standing there smiling with a HUGE teddy bear and about 10oversized balloons! It was so romantic and will be one of the best days of my life!

angelica said...

May, hopefully he got a clue the next year..

Mellebelle, what a creative boy you have!

Tonia, surprises at the office (even when you're expecting them) are always the best!

C-squared, the thought was so sweet - too bad it made you sick! ;)

Kendrah2009, 100 cool points to your man for being so original!

My best Valentines gift was last year. My husband got home from work and told me to get dressed up. I thought maybe he was taking me out for supper but I was so happy to find out he had arranged for my mother to watch our kids and he had rented a nice hotel room and brought everything we needed for a gourmet picnic in our room and a very romantic night.

Hubby wrote "I Love You" in the fogged up mirror in the bathroom while I was taking a hot shower.

I blogged this in my post:

My worst V-day gifts ever? A dehumidifier and hemp lubricant from my ex. I still have his "bits" in a jar for that one... LOL!

On my first Valentines Day with my boyfriend I was expecting a nice gift.Mind you we were both in our mid 30's at this time, not teenagers!Well, when the big day arrived he gave me a .79 box of candy like little children exchange at school. No card,no flowers-just a pitiful teeny tiny box with 4 or 5 chocolates inside.I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.Needless to say,it was our last Valentines Day together!

MY sweetest Valentine's gift was a dozen red roses from my husband.I was a young(too) mom and money was tight. I thought I was acting apprpriately and he asked"what's wrong" I confessed I was worried about the flowers when we had groceries to buy. That's when he told me that all the guys at the welding shop bought the same thing so a huge warehouse truck of roses was delivered and they were only $12.He was afraid I'd think he was cheap I told him he was really smart.Good thinking guys!

When I was working at my old office job, one of my male co-workers brought me flowers. We had been friends for awhile. There was a card attached and inside there was a little message that said that he had a crush on me and wanted to take me out for dinner! Needless to say, we went out to dinner and starting dating :)

Ok, so my fiance has done a ton of sweet stuff for valentine's day, but I thought I'd share a story of a guy I dated a few times instead ;)

He had gone home (4 hours away) Valentine's weekend, and he called me on Valentine's day and said that he was thinking about me (aww!). He said that although he was at home that night and was taking his mom out for Valentine's dinner (double aww!), he wanted to take me out for a belated Valentine's dinner once he got back to school (yay!). Anyway, I was super excited, since I liked him (he rowed, so on top of that--great body!). So, I said yes! Then he said, ok, well, is 10 o'clock ok for dinner, since that is when the *half-price menu* starts? ... Hmm, I thought, well, maybe he is just a poor college student like me and that is all he can afford, so I'll still go. We had a nice dinner, but he made sure I ordered off the half-price menu.

Anyway, we went back to his place and were kissing (hadn't done anything more than kissing at this point), and he asks me (seriously) to strip for him and IRON HIS LAUNDRY NAKED. I am not making this up!

Anyway, he got upset when I asked for a ride home, so I just walked. All in all, a nice guy--just didn't know how to treat a lady :)

A couple years ago on valentines day i received a present from my boyfriend. It was multiple presents all at once. There was a teddy bear, a rose and a tri-layer of something. All in my favorite color purple. I loved the teddy bear and the rose but the last present i wasn't sure what it was. It was this cleat heart shaped thing with three layers. The first consisted of these purple and white heart shaped things. Well i wasn't sure what it was and it looked liked candy so i tried it. I immediately spit out for it tasted absolutely horrifying. In the next layer there was this bagged thing that appeared to be pixie sticks. I was so hungry at this point i thought it might taste good. I licked my finger dipped it in and tried it. That too was gross. I don't know what made me try the last layer but they looked like purple gum balls and i thought i was sure they really were. I popped out in my mouth and right away popped it back out. I couldn't understand why the candies he gave me tasted so horrible so I decided to give him a call. I told him his presents were sweet although the candy was sickening. He asked what candy? and i told him the purple ones in reply he burst out laughing and told me it was soap.

It was near Valentines and me and my boyfriend's anniversary was on February 15th which is the day after Valentines. Well the night before our anniversary it was Valtentines Day && lately he was working alott and he never had time to see me. I was so sad and we ended up getting into this huge argument and he just went to work and never called, texted, or contacted me back. I was really sad because I was the one who caused it, but at that time I was stubborn as can be.

So later that night when he got off work he gave me a call. I answered my phone and acted like I didn't care because I hate giving in. And he was like can you come outside for a second? I was like why? He was like please. Let me remind you it was winter and in the middle of february and I live in ohio. So I really didn't want to go outside. He told me to look out my window and I didn't see anything. So then I stepped outside and he said look harder. Well wouldn't you know he popped out from behind my Mom's car with a huge teddy bear and my favorite Walt Disney movie "The Fox and the Hound" I was so shocked. He said he was sorry and he planned this out for a week b/c he searched everywhere for fox and the hound. I felt so bad and apologized, but before I did he just kissed me and said. It's okayyy like he knew I was already sorry.

I knew from then on that he was the one. All he wants to do is make me happy. Ever since then the teddy bears have been getting bigger. He said the reason why they get bigger because his love for me grows stronger as if it's getting bigger. I don't know if you guys would think that's cheesy, but to me it was so romantic :) HAPPY VALENTINES AND ANNIVERSARY TO ME.

Let me add that my birthday is Feb. 26th so he is really broke this month -lol

Since I've never had a boyfriend on Valentines day I've never gotten a Valentine's day present. Which is pathetic considering I'm almost 20. But anyway, the best gift I've gotten was a Jimmy Eat World CD from my mom one year, I know it sounds lame. But I really wanted the CD, haha.

I've never had a boyfriend yet, but the best I was ever given was my beloved pet kitty from my mom. My kitty has since passed away (she lasted 13 wonderful years) but I have never received a better gift before or since. My kitty was my heart.

I would love to win that beautiful necklace; I have been wanting a handcuff necklace forever- that one is really neat with the word "freedom" inscribed on it.

Thanks for holding such a lovely contest giveaway how nice!

Good luck to whomever wins. Happy early Valentine's Day to all!

I've always been a simple girl and in high school I had roses waiting for me from I girl I liked with a note stating "Will you go out with me?". I was so excited. It was a great Valentine's day.

I've gotten roses and jewelry for Valentine's Day, but the best gift and one I will never forget was from my own mother. I was in college and boyfriendless and pretty lonely so my mom sent me a Valentine's Day package, it was a box full of red confetti, chocolate kisses, those little heart candies and a big red bear. I'm thirty *cough* something now and I will never forget that gift! Thank You Mom!!!

I've had my share of good and not so good Valentine's Days but this year I'm going to do something completely different...
this year I'm going to be the Pay It Forward/Random Act of Kindness Cupid by leaving those little kid Valentine's cards and those tiny heart shaped boxes of candy for strangers. The elderly couple up the street...the disabled man who walks past my house each day...the goth kid across the street who seems pretty lonely...the really friendly 7-11 lady...the toll collector! I'm spreading the love this year!

The sweetest Valentine gift I ever received was a homemade dinner by my boyfriend in a romantic condo he and a friend had reserved for the night to celebrate with me and a girlfriend of mine (they were dating too). After presenting us with roses and giant teddy bears, they cooked and served us dinner and took care of our every need all night!
