Beyonce is Too Hot for the Brits

There's no denying that chanteuse Beyonce is hot, but the singer/fashion designer/perfumer may just be a little too hot for the folks across the pond. Her television ad for Beyonce Heat, in which she appears wearing a skin-bearing red dress, writhing and caressing herself, has been banned during the day in the U.K. and can now only be shown after 7:30pm.

Check out the commercial:

What do you think? Too hot for TV?

Beyonce's World Tour: Tough-Chic

Sasha Fierce, the name of Beyonce's most recent album, will be personified in these outrageous, woman-cum-warrior costumes created by designer Thierry Mugler. "Sasha Fierce is another aspect of Beyonce's personality," Mugler told WWD. "She is Fierce on stage, and Beyonce in real life."

Beyonce's world tour starts today. Check Ticketmaster.com for info.

The couple will make the official announcement today in Martone's native Sao Paulo, Brazil, where they've gone to celebrate Jacobs' multibrand store. Both are wearing rings (sweet!) but the pair have not set a date yet. When they do, it will no doubt be the most stylish event of the year!

What I Want: Flirty Dresses from Shoshanna

Seinfeld's ex-GF has certainly made a name for herself in the fashion biz--her eponymous line is clever and youthful with splashes of vintage charm mixed in. Most noted for the teeny bikinis she designs, this season Shoshanna is on my radar for the flirty, summer-perfect dresses she's churning out. These colorful little frocks are the reason sandals were invented!

Michelle Obama Wears Jason Wu

For months we've waited to find out which designer First Lady Michelle Obama would choose to design her inaugural gown and tonight we finally got our answer. The statuesque Michelle wore a diaphanous white gown from New York-based designer Jason Wu, no doubt putting the 26-year old on the fashion map.

Wu called in to chat on Anderson Cooper 360, stating that he was thrilled to see her in his gown. Like the rest of us, he had no idea what the First Lady would be wearing until he saw her on TV.

Earlier in the day, Michelle Obama donned a sleek suit to the swearing-in ceremony. The suit, a lemongrass-colored sheath and jacket, was designed by Isabel Toledo. I love that our First Lady wears what she likes, instead of wearing the bigger designers everyone is expecting her to wear!

As usual, Michelle looked absolutely stunning! I can't wait to see what looks she puts together over the next eight years!

That's Just Wrong...

I try to keep this blog gossip-free and I wouldn't usually post anything that wasn't nice, but occasionally a star will wear something so horrific I am forced to call them out (as nicely as possible, of course!). Behold...

This is Bond girl Gemma Arteron at the premiere of Quantum of Solace wearing, what I am guessing is a couture American Gladiators costume. What do you think?

The Beauty of Politics: Stila and Rock the Vote

It's an election year and while I am concerned about the the environment, the war, and the state of the economy, it's hard to ignore the sartorial style (or lack thereof) on the campaign trail. Hey, don't judge me--even Tim Gunn has sounded off about this very subject! (He chose Michelle...a wise choice if you ask me.) But what's fashion without beauty?

Since the two go hand in hand it's not surprising that makeup artist extraordinaire Bobbi Brown has been tapped to beautify Jill Biden for her husband Joe's acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention. And why shouldn't Stila Cosmetics jump on board and team up with the Rock the Vote campaign to create Rock the Vote Red ($17), the most delicious true red lipstick I've ever seen? And while they're at it, why not donate a portion of Rock the Vote Red sales to the campaign of the same name? It's the politically correct thing to do.

Sean Combs: I Am King

Leave it to P. Diddy to dub his new men's fragrance I Am King (the backup dancer-turned-music producer-turned-media mogul has never been shy about expressing his love and affection for himself)! The follow-up to his wildly successful Unforgiveable scent, I Am King is "about sophistication...elegance...simplicity" says Combs.

I Am King, which is available exclusively at Macy's starting in December and other department stores in February, opens up with citrusy notes of tangerine and orange, then leads to a cool middle of champagne, creme de cassis, and Mediterranean water accord, and finishes sweet and musky with lemon cream, cedarwood, white moss, sandalwood and clean powdery undertones.

The I Am King collection includes eau de toilette, after-shave balm, shower gel, and deodorant, with prices ranging from $18 to $74, so you can easily afford to get your king a gift set for the holidays. I'm sure he'll return the favor come fall of 2009, when the I Am Queen fragrance is set to launch.

Ralph Lauren Rocks the Olympics

Fashion and sports collided in Bejing at Friday night's 29th Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony when the U.S. Team marched out in head-to-toe Polo Ralph Lauren. The look was classic Ralph Lauren -- crisp, unfussy silhouettes in shades of red, white, and navy blue. The nautical look was topped off with a cool, white twill hat. Go Team USA!

Trend Watch: Latex Leggings

People asks, "Who looked better in their latex leggings - R&B songstress Rihanna or pop princess Miley Cyrus?"

Whether you love them or loathe them, one thing's for sure--latex leggings are a trend that seems to be sticking around for another season. A look that used to be reserved for guitar-yielding heavy metal band members from the 80s, these "liquid" pants have evolved into a style staple that is all-at-once uptown sophisticate and edgy urban chic. I spotted two, one splurge and one steal, that are worth trying for your next night out.

Splurge
The Kova & T Latex Leggings ($110) have a cutout heel that looks appealingly like a modern-day stirrup.

Steal
Leave it American Apparel to offer their Shiny Leggings ($42) in a wide range of cool colors, like purple, red, and copper (pictured).
