Lorick Lady

There are so many reasons to love Lorick, the New York-based label from Abigail Lorick. For starters, her impeccable attention to detail makes for insanely pretty dresses, skirts, and jackets.

And it should come as no surprise that after launching her line just one year ago, in April 2007, Lorick has already been featured in Nylon, Lucky, Teen Vogue, and Elle to name a small few. After all, her preppy-meets-50s retro collection is decidedly prim (hello, Gossip Girls character Blair Waldorf's entire wardrobe is Lorick!), but not so much so that parrot-print chiffons, silky metallics, brilliant pops of color, and even leather jeans with zippered ankles don't belong.

And let's not forget her Summer '08 collection, which features flecks of yellow in every piece (much like the traditional crafts of Kenya) to support LWALA (Living With A Life-long Ambition), an organization that helps facilitate development in African communities.

Perhaps best of all is her consistency--the Fall '08 is equally if not more divine than the debut, with dresses to drool over, ladylike gloves, and the retro flair that is no doubt the biggest reason to love Lorick.
