Rocker-cum-fashion designer Gwen Stefani has teamed with industry giant Coty to introduce a collection of fragrances from her Harajuku Lovers line this September. Not surprisingly, the whole project -- from the bottles to the ad campaign -- imparts the same whimsical girliness of the clothing line.
For the new fragrances (five in all) Stefani designed a different doll to represent herself and each of her four backup singers (Love, Angel, Music, and Baby) and turned them into the scent bottles. She also had a different scent created to match each of the women's unique personalities:
Love - She's "sweet, caring, free-spirited." Her fragrance is a sensuous floral with topnotes of sparkling bergamot, pink pomelo, peach and bamboo water mist; a heart of watery peony, lace rose, jasmine sambac, nectarine blossom, and Egyptian jasmine; and a base of vanilla orchid, musk, and blond wood.
Angel - She's "constantly looking out for others, but she's no saint," Stefani says. The fragrance is a fruity floral, with top notes of raspberry, cranberry, blackberry and pineapple; pear blossom, candied violet and sugared rose at the heart; and a drydown of lollipop accord and crystal amber.
Music - Stefani describes her as "always looking to make someone laugh," and "charismatic." This fragrance is also floral, but much more delicate. Top notes are clementine and sparkling pear with middle notes of jasmine sambac, sweet pea, and honeysuckle, and a base of vanilla, skin musk, and wood.
Baby - She is "enticing in her frilly innocence." Her fragrance is a powdery musk with freesia, bergamot, and white rose at the top; a heart of orange flower, tiare flower, and jasmine; and a drydown of white musk, heliotrope, soft woods, vanilla, and violet.
And of course, we all know G herself is the leader of the pack, fun and free-spirited, yet soulful at the same time. This fragrance has top notes of crisp mandarin, fresh coconut, and apple skin; a heart of jasmine sambac, freesia, and magnolia; and a base of coconut cream, white sandalwood, and cottonwoods.
The Harajuku Lovers collection are all value-priced, so you'll be able to pick up one, two, or all five at once - expect to pay $45 for 30ml and $25 for 10ml. Look for them in Macy's, Nordstrom, Dillard's, Sephora, and 2,200 department and specialty stores nationwide.
