Beauty on a Budget at Sephora

A five dollar bill doesn't get you a whole lot these days, save for a cholesterol-laden, "value-menu" calorie fest from the drive-thru. So you can imagine my delight to find a mascara at Sephora for just $4! A misprinted price label? That's what I thought, but the Sephora Brand Fantastic Color Mascara really is only four bucks.

And no, it's not some puny little sample-sized tube. It's an actual tube...well, actually, the packaging is unlike any other mascara you've ever purchased! It's a squeeze tube (like a lipgloss) that lets you get every last drop of product. How clever can they get? The mascara itself is a fabulous, clump-free, smudge-proof formula, just like the expensive brands. Choose from Auburn, Blue, Brown and Green.

So what to do with the leftover dollar? Pick up a Sephora Brand Slim Eye Pencil in Blue, Mauve Purple, or Light Purple--there's just a buck each.

Sex and the City's Patricia Field Launches Destination Style

Sex and the City is released on DVD today, and video stores everywhere will no doubt be clamoring to keep shelves stocked. To coincide with the release, Patricia Field, the costume designer extraordinaire who dressed the ladies, is launching Destination Style New York, a collection of splashy clothes and accessories that are surprisingly affordable (prices range from $35 to $200!), and, even more surprising, available only on HSN!

Some pieces include a studded leather belt (yeah, just like the one Carrie wore throughout the movie), a curve-hugging sequin dress, a faux fur capelet, and a black trench coat that costs a mere $150! If you found yourself drooling over the clothes in the movie, chances are you'll find something equally fabulous in the Destination Style New York collection. Head to HSN.com for more details.

Let Them Eat Cake!

I have been MIA, and I'm sorry. It's just that I've been away...on Cloud 9! You see, I had a birthday on the 13th and my darling boy proposed! That's right -- I'm engaged! So you'll have to forgive my absence from Style Goodies.

I also received another gift for my birthday -- a deluxe sample of Sephora Brand Vanilla Cupcake Bubble Bath, just because I signed up to be a Sephora Beauty Insider! The bubble bath (which I used as a shower gel) has the most delicious birthday cake fragrance and contains skin softening aloe vera and jojoba. And while the heavenly aroma of baked treats lingered in my bathroom, it did not linger on my skin so there was no interference with my perfume.

There is a whole collection of Vanilla Cupcake products available at Sephora, and nothing is over $16. I'm after the Dry Oil and the Body Scrub next!

Queen of Darkness: Black and Grey Fashion for Fall

What could be a sterile and serious color combination, black with grey is a cool alternative to black and white. Enchanting little details like bows, beads, and buttons make the duo fresh and playful for fall.

I am completely smitten with these Betsey Johnson Legwarmers ($40)! The chunky knit looks so toasty and the heart-shaped buttons are a sweet touch.

This Long Striped Cardigan from Twelve by Twelve ($32) is such a steal, plus the included chain link belt with ribbon tie can add a girly feel to any look.

It's hard not to love this Peoples Market Wool Mix Dress ($139.50), especially when it's paired with tights and the ubiquitous bootie.

Every girl should have a coat that's as fetching as a dress! The Leifsdottir 'Cloud Berry Flowers' Belted Coat ($298) has a tie-neck, puffed sleeves, and scalloped neck and hems - divine!

If you're looking for a versatile top that works with anything from wide-leg jeans to sleek pencil skirts, get the Smooth Long Sleeve Shirt from French Connection ($98)!

Just Let Your Soul Glow

Designer Jason Wu showed off a Spring 2009 collection of polished, ladylike looks that were fresh and sexy and colorful.

As deliciously girly as everything was, this picture caught my eye...

The dress is gorgeous (the floaty fabric, the detailed neckline, the saturated color--swoon), but I can't take my eyes off the model's radiant skin! Must she have used pounds of exfoliating sea salt and gallons of luminizing lotion to achieve it?

Or is it possible the knowing makeup artists backstage spritzed her lovely face with Sephora Brand's new "Tricks of the Trade" Radiance Mist before sending her out on the runway? 100% colorless and alcohol-free, this kiwi and citrus fruit-infused spray absorbs quickly into skin to refresh and rejuvenate and leave it glowing and fresh.

Sephora Brand has an entire line of "Tricks of the Trade" products, including Makeup Setting Mist and Anti-Shine Primer. Head to Sephora.com to view the collection.

Rachel Roy Spring 2009

Rachel Roy presented a fantastically dramatic Spring 2009 collection in New York today, including a slouchy backless T-shirt dress, detachable tulip skirts worn over slim pencil skirts, pajama-like silk blazers, and heavily embellished separates.

The entire collection was effortlessly elegant and--even though there were pieces with heavy embellishment or embroidery--it was completely wearable. I can just see myself dashing into the office in the creamy vanilla sheath with the words "Be the change you want to see in the world" stitched in French.

And if you're dying to know about all the wickedly sexy shoes, they're Manolo Blahnik for Rachel Roy!
